Graphite as the source for the graphs

I can't find this anywhere - is it possible for Ganglia Web to display graphs using graphite as the data source? I.e., can ganglia web issue graphite API requests to get the data (that graphite would store in whisper files for example) and then display that?

I'm exploring the possibility of using only ganglia-web from the ganglia toolset and delegate the rest to collectd/graphite.
