Hi all,

Is there a way, or can there be a way, to specify the desired baud rate for local POCSAG paging?

Best,

Chris

Also interested in this issue, if its possible to add the parameter for baud in settings.

Would add alot of value for doing local POCSAG paging.

Most older pagers can run either 512 or 1200 baud so its not something new to run 512 baud for example, but I understand if there's limitations in the software for this or similiar just found this issue and I had the exactly same thought as this one.

So mostly wanted to express my feelings about this, if its not possible I dont mind just wanted to see if it was.

No worries, all in all I would say it would be a very small amount of people using/wanting/needing this change.

I got into pagers about 6 months ago and the only improvement of being able to set the baud for the "RemoteCommand"-command would be to increase the transmit range.

Anyway figured I would atleast ask to see if its possible without too much work.

Thanks for responding!

Hey again, started thinking about this again after new years and was trying to find out where the baud speed is set when transmitting pocsag. Is there any information that can be relayed to me where the parameters for the POCSAG local send using RemoteCommand are set? So I could troubleshoot and investigate myself and test

As I said before, POCSAG runs at 1200 bd. It is fixes at that value, it will not be changing for obscure old hardware.

I understand this and am not expecting it to be changed but was wondering if there was any information that could be relayed as to where the value is set and I could do some local testing myself. I am not unfamiliar with Linux etc

Alright, probably out of my depth. Appreciate the answer but I see that its too much work

The typical AlphaPOC style pager that most of us are using will support up to 2400 bps... I expect though to be compliant with DAPNET protocol, the decision to support 2400 would have to come from their end, and would likely require everyone to change their pager settings to support it.... It would be a major step, and while it would give the network greater capacity, it would also decrease reliability of message delivery... lets face it... a 1200 bps message is more likely to get through vs a 2400 bps signal...
