Hi Whatever is the problem, exporting a PCB layout that passes DRC in KiCAD into FreeRouting should not introduce clearance violations on its own. There is a problem somewhere (either in KiCAD or FreeRouting) but I can't tell where. Maybe someone has some insight and can fix this long standing problem? Thanks, Andrew Lynch |

Hi,
I have a feature request. I use FreeRouting 1.7 and KiCAD 6.0.11. I designed a PCB and exported the spectra session to FreeRouting where it did the autorouting and worked fine. Then I imported the SES file back into KiCAD and and everything was fine but when I re-exported the spectra session again to FreeRouting it showed a lot of clearance violations (~235).
I think this is a known problem based on a search of the discussions with FreeRouting and KiCAD, however, I thought of a feature added to FreeRouting which might solve this problem. My thought was a for FreeRouting to identify traces with clearance violations and the redo those traces like you would manually push and shove routing. This would reroute the traces so there is no clearance violations and if it were automated could clear the board or most if not all of the clearance violations.
The ability to freely transfer files in and out of KiCAD and FreeRouting would be a big help. As it is now, I get like one chance to export into FreeRouting and trace the board. If I re-import and notice a problem I have to start from scratch or manually clear all the violations which is a big hassle on large PCBs.
Please consider this idea. Thank you! Andrew Lynch
