TypeError: abi.encode is not a function #69

I am using ethereumjs-abi 0.6.5.

I was trying to execute this line of code when the error occured:
ethABI.encode(contractAbi, `${functionName}(${functionParameters})`, value);

Looks like the method is not implemented. Should README file be updated?
