Description

There is an idea to add a concept of "dimensions" (since "domains" was already taken) to the Eiffel protocol documentation. The idea was initially brought up on the Eiffel Summit 2022.1

Exactly what it would be used for is to be elaborated on, but some initial thoughts are:

  • Simplifying event consumer filters
  • Simplifying the argumentation about links vs trace contexts?

Dimensions to consider include but are not limited to

  • Traceability
  • Activity
  • Artifact
  • Test
  • etc

Motivation

It could help in coming discussions on event use cases and scope

Exemplification

See description

Benefits

It could help in coming discussions on event use cases and scope

Possible Drawbacks

Additional documentation needed
