Ok, maybe I'm missing something but let's say I have an existing folder called /root at the root of my open project. What I would like to be able to do is open the Advanced New File dialog, and enter something like /root/folder/subfolder/example.txt and have it automatically create folder and subfolder before eventually creating example.txt.

Is this possible, and if not currently, is it possible to add it as a feature?
