The paper: Collier et al Iterative Reweighted Linear Least Squares for Accurate, Fast, and Robust Estimation of Diffusion Magnetic Resonance Parameters 2015
This IRLLS method provides a robust estimator approach to fitting the diffusion tensor, and was shown to be faster and more accurate than RESTORE.
Surely this is something we would like to see in DiPy? If so, I can take a swing at it.
