The problem

I get this graphical error on startup for about five seconds, then it works fine. It started happening after one of the recent updates

Release version

Version 3.3.14 (x64)

Operating system

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19045.4291]

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. start github desktop
  2. observe graphical error for about five seconds

Thanks for the report @kyle-sylvestre.

Could you try editing the app's shortcut (the one you use to open the app, from the Desktop or the start menu) and add the --disable-gpu parameter to see if that resolves this issue?

same graphical error but shorter duration now. It might not be triggered, the log is saying it's a "malformed launch argument"

is there a way to manually set the display adapter? It might be using my integrated intel adapter now instead of my nvidia one

Can you try resetting the app to see if that helps? Sometimes this resolves graphical issues.

Here's how to reset the application:

  1. Close GitHub Desktop
  2. Remove all of the files in %APPDATA%\GitHub Desktop\
  3. Restart GitHub Desktop

You will need to log in and add your repositories again, which can be done quickly in bulk by drag-and-drop.
