What is your question?

I have the following pattern. It's not perfect, and I haven't been working on it for very long, but it's been very helpful to me when analyzing datasets where the column names aren't in English. right now it's specific to column names but could be generalized to work for something else, although for my use case, the values in the first column need to be as close to the original values as possible, ideally to support copying and using as ctrl-f finding in a page.

My questions are:

  • does this belong here?
  • if so, where here would it belong?
  • what should it be named?
  • should i refine it for a while before submitting it, or are work-in-progress patterns acceptable?

Create a detailed table that translates a list of dataset column names to fully unabbreviated English, includes a side-by-side comparison of the original terms and their fully expanded unabbreviated English translations, and adds a third column explaining why and how these translations were chosen and what they mean. Focus on expanding abbreviations and clarifying their meanings in both languages. Use the context of the column names overall to provide context for each term's use aiming to demystify the terminology for an English-speaking audience. Each description row must be able to stand alone such that one can read it by itself and understand the full meaning of the original and the translation, without needing to read previous or nearby rows to understand the full meaning of a given row.
