As someone who recognizes the incredible potential of the VITS TTS project, I have noticed that the current setup process can be quite challenging for individuals who lack coding experience. This barrier to entry may prevent a significant portion of potential users from enjoying the benefits of this remarkable text-to-speech solution. I believe that addressing this issue would greatly enhance the accessibility and usability of VITS TTS for a wider audience.

Solution

To make VITS TTS more accessible to non-technical users, I propose the development of a user-friendly Windows executable installer. This installer would enable the average user to effortlessly install VITS TTS on their Windows system and seamlessly integrate it as a plugin within the Microsoft Speech API (SAPI) framework. With this integration, users could easily utilize the exceptional text-to-speech capabilities of VITS TTS whenever the system requires speech output or text narration.

Furthermore, if feasible, I suggest the inclusion of an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) alongside the exe installer. This user-friendly UI would allow users to configure and customize VITS TTS settings, such as voice selection, speed, pitch, and volume, without the need for manual editing of configuration files. The combination of an exe installer and a UI would greatly enhance the user experience and make VITS TTS even more accessible to non-technical users.

Alternative Solutions

While the proposed exe installer and UI integration would be the most comprehensive solution, there are alternative approaches that could also improve accessibility:

Develop a detailed, step-by-step installation guide with screenshots and videos to assist non-technical users in setting up VITS TTS.
Create a web-based interface that allows users to interact with VITS TTS without the need for local installation.
Provide pre-configured virtual machine images or Docker containers with VITS TTS pre-installed and ready to use.
However, these alternatives may not provide the same level of seamless integration and ease of use as the proposed exe installer and UI solution.

Additional context

The development of an exe installer, SAPI integration, and a user-friendly UI would likely attract a larger user base, fostering a vibrant community around VITS TTS. This increased adoption could lead to valuable feedback, bug reports, and even contributions from a diverse group of users, ultimately driving the project's growth and improvement.

By making VITS TTS more accessible to the general public, you would be empowering countless individuals who could greatly benefit from its text-to-speech capabilities. This includes visually impaired users, language learners, and anyone who relies on speech output for their daily tasks.

I understand that implementing these features may require additional effort and resources. However, I firmly believe that the long-term benefits would be substantial. I eagerly look forward to hearing your thoughts on this proposal and potentially seeing these features come to fruition in the future.

Thank you for considering this feature request and for your ongoing dedication to the VITS TTS project.
