Is gdkpixbuf (+GInputStream would be nice :) ) in the plans? Quite important for real-life use.
Or cairo support maybe?

We're a bit busy with other projects at the moment, but when things slow down again I may be able to implement this. Otherwise, you can try your hand at implementing it yourself and sending in a pull request. It'll take a short while for me to review it, but it should be faster than waiting for me to write it from scratch.

go-gtk has a reference implementation here, do you think it can be used with little modifications?

I realized that before anything, Pixbuf and all the functions using a Pixbuf are missing in the gdk package :)
It seems this is a much bigger work than I originally anticipated.
