I emailed support about this twice, with no reply, so let's try it as a bug report.

Whenever I try to perform any action from the Cyphertite app

Cyphertite v. 2.0.2
Windows 7 home premium (build 7601 SP 1)

I get the error dialog "Error connecting to Cyphertite service. Unable to verify license."

I can login fine via the Web interface.

Hi @l-a-r
Sorry you are having issues. I think the problem is that you are using an older version of ct for windows. The current version (available at https://www.cyphertite.com/download.php?os=windows) is 2.0.4 which I believe solves license manager issues.

Thanks.

I realize this isn't the core of what Conformal does, but as a user, if the new release broke the old client --- well, I'd rather that didn't happen. But if it did, it should be publicized on the blog, and on the Cyphertite landing page? (In my particular case, I realized that I was using an old version of the client, but given how important the data is, when something goes wrong, my inclination is not to make any more changes (like a new client) and possibly make things worse.)

I definitely like the strategy of not changing too many things when you hit a problem until you actually understand what is going on. If more people did that, debugging would be much easier.

I'm usually uninvolved with windows stuff so I can't really comment on the other part (I just vaguely remembered that there were license manager changes in a newer version). Once again, sorry you hit problems.

Is everything working now? When things are resolved, could you close the issue?

Thanks again for using cyphertite.
