Option to Automatically Populate Changes from Save File Not Working

Since Chummer 5.196, there is an option for chummer to automatically re-load opend files when external changes where made to that file. I have this option enabled and i have a character file shared with a friend via dropbox.
But if my friend edits something on the character chummer doesnt refresh. This seems like a bug to me, but please tell me if i did something wrong.

we made sure...
-we both use the same chummer version (5.225.0)
-dropbox is synching the file correctly
-closing and re-opening does show the changes (as expected, even without the out-load option)
-i have no pending changes to be saved that would prevent chummer from auto-re-loading (freshly opend the sheat; also no * behind [Career Mode] in the top bar)
-we both open the file in career mode
-we both use the same character settings (the standart settings)
-to re-start chummer after enabeling the auto-reload option to make sure the changed settings are loaded correctly
