@MW3000 There's no limit though, so the bars will still run off the screen if the comment count gets too high. My proposed solution (#12) scales the bars relative to the sentence with the highest number of comments.
Just had another report of this come through the contact form:
Subject: can't read the text!
Comment: the text is being obscured by the blue blocks that are built up as people comment on it. can you sort this out? I can't read the text.

Workarounds for this would be to enable the "opacity" option by default, or to somehow make the interest bars appear behind the text.
