In October I received my first Rock64. I tried to use your ATV 7.1 but it kept freezing and I had to do manual resets to get the OS to boot up. This not only happened on your build but on others as well. Nothing I tried to install was stable. I came to a conclusion that it must be the board as I had tried the eMMC chip I purchased from Pine64. A Samsung Evo SSD and a Samsung Evo Plus SSD all with the same result. I purchased another board and it arrived the other day. Once again I have tried to use your build but am unable to get past the recommendation screen during startup. It freezes right there and won't boot all the way into the OS. I have tried flashing with Android Tool for windows. Also Sadie for Linux as well as upgrade_tool all with the same result. Is there a way to fix this problem permanently or do I need to wait for your next release? I believe the problem may lie in the launcher as it keeps failing.

I have the same issue.
The only some what stable android image is stock android via sd>>emmc install.

Only an eternal smile with any other android image I've tried

In all seriousness I have gotten it booted long enough to replace the launcher and and it was still freezing.

Absolutely shitty board. Also expensive. RPi2 and 3 are far away more worth it!!!

Everyone. This is really strange. This board has been crazy stable for me. Are you sure that you don't have any of those:

  • You have bad power,
  • You have slow SD card,
  • There's something else.

Connect UART and see what is the error.

Ayufan, I really think that the board is ok in matter of hardware but all builds that I have tried for this boards is more than awful which of course make this board unusable. Your build, Android TV 7.1 is relatively stable to me, but a lot of things like controlling it with CEC(sometimes works, sometimes not), PLEX app for can't do audio pass-through, loosing network connectivity when it resume from standby and much more are really, really irritating.
Now I am using Raybuntu LibreELEC which is...how to say...well it is also very unstable, cannot play 4k, it crashes very often, but at least I can control it via Yatse and TV remote.

When you say "You have slow SD card", what do you mean? I am using 16GB kingston SD card and I don't know if there is much better/faster card than this one.

Well, Kingston SDs is one of the worsts. It will not resolve all your problems. Most of the work is community driven, similar to RPI2/3. So, probably helping on solving this issues will make everyone happy :)

Ok. I agree, so tell me how can I help with this. I am not a programmer/developer but at least I could provide logs and useful info to you.

Well. Use issue tracker, report errors. Probably start with Raybuntu. They are very responsive and helpful.

About the deficiencies of my ATV, they know. These are things to solve, but my focus is now on having good stable Linux build.

Raybuntu abandoned Liberelec Krypton 17.xx. He focuses on kodi 18 (leia) and I can't understand why he focuses there when Kodi 18 has not released yet and there will be having a lot of bugs and problems. That makes nothing of his work being stable.

Hi @droidforever, didn't see you mention it, what power adapter were you using?
I'm having exactly the same issues as you said here, and I do have a bad power supply (5v 2A, one I used for my raspberry pi). Thinking whether should I replace it immediately. Thanks.

Replaced power supply, but still no improvement. That's what worried me, something could be the cause, but not guaranteed, making you waste more money and time on that.
