The NickServ Register command requires an email address. I would like users to be able to create accounts without associated email address.
Naive workarounds like entering an invalid email address do not work. For example, entering anon@thisdomaindoesntexist.com is a security issue because the domain could be registered afterwards to take over the account. Even anon@anon.thistlddoesntexist has this problem because arbitrary TLDs are for sale. There are some TLDs that have some guarantees around not existing but this isn't future proof. The only proper solution is to actually store that no email address is associated with the account instead of a placeholder.
