Recap:

In #86 the thumbnail size was set from 25GB to 5MB in ascribe/onion.
In #34 the thumbnail size was set from 25GB to 5MB in ascribe/spoolio.

In #84, this discussion surfaced and it was proposed to discuss it in its own issue, which is why you're now reading this:

I'd argue that 5mb is also to pessimistic.
My vacation photos are on average 5mb.
As a user I absolute do not want to be bothered resizing my thumbnail. It's absolutely frustrating to rescale your image before uploading to ascribe.
Storage is cheap for us.
Thumbnails can be animated (gifs), and are therefore naturally larger.
If I'm not mistaken, thumbnails are still optimized for size on the backend anyways.

I'd raise it to at least 15MB.

Opinions: @sbellem, @sohkai, @diminator ?

I don't mind increasing it, especially now that we are optimizing the thumbnail images. I guess some people could use really high quality pictures as thumbnails to their pdfs or whatnot, so 5mb would be too small.
