I faced this problem. I launched AROS64 as I wrote here under VMware and InstallAROS on virtual HDD.
Then I disabled boot-iso through "Connect at power" checkmark and successfully booted the installed AROS64 from the virtual HDD. After that, I wrote the files I needed to untitled.iso and tried to connect it. However, AROS64 is only loaded when virtual CD with iso is off. I've tried all the available master / slave options:

AROS_IDE
AROS_IDE2
etc
I tried to boot from master HDD IDE 0:0 first and then connect CD slave IDE 0:1, but no autodetection happens.
I tried to boot from master HDD IDE 0:0 with connected SCSI 0:0 CD/DVD and AROS64 run, but autodetection doesn't happen either.
I tried to boot from master HDD IDE 0:0 with connected SATA 0:0 CD/DVD and AROS64 frozen with black screen.
