Configure JPA endpoint with Persistence Unit in Karavan (VS Code)

Are there any examples of how to set up the JPA component in Karavan (VS Code extension)? I'm getting the following error when using the JPA component. I have a Customer.java entity class and trying to save data to a local PSQL DB using JPA. Tried putting the persistence.xml but no luck.

Highly appreciate your support on setting up required beans.

Do you want to run this with Spring Boot? Then you could create a camel spring boot project in VSCode, and then put the camel yaml route file into src/main/resources, and Karavan VS Code plugin can still edit this file.

You can then run this via standard spring boot or java (i assume vscode has some button to do that). or run from terminal via mvn spring-boot:run

You would need to add the dependencies to the pom.xml and all that stuff that jbang otherwise can do automatic.

you can use camel-jbang to export to a maven based project. (see camel jbang docs)

Also in Camel 4.6 we are adding some basic support for running jbang with spring-boot instead of vanilla camel, i have not tried your jpa example if then that would work better. You are welcome to put all your project code somewhere where I can download and try).

@davsclaus May I know camel version and the karavan version should be same or different??? In my local I am using the karavan version v4.5.0 and I tried to provide in the application.properties as camel.jbang.version as 4.6.0 and after running up , the karavan is not taking up 4.6.0. It is taking up the camel version 4.5.0. please throw some light on it.

Thanks for the quick clarification. Yeah actually I have another Spring Boot project using camel libraries and that's working without any issue. I was trying to accomplish the same with Karavan. I will try your suggestion of running Karavan as a Spring Boot project and will wait for v4.6 too.
