Hello there. Andstatus is an incredibly powerful social media tool, I appreciate what it can do. It was essential for early federated platforms However as federated platforms have evolved, some of them such as friendica and pixelfed are much more enjoyable when used on their webpages then in your app. Friendica is customizable to the point of myspace level of fun and will only improve from there. I have a feeling more and more federated sites are improving for mobile as well. You can make a “pin to home” for both options however both of them are lacking in key features your app provides. Features such as pop up notifications for new activity and the ability to post to your account from the share option from an article. These two features along with the webpage display would make an app on par with the facebook and IG apps, something they sorely need.
If it would at all be possible, either add a “view in webpage” feature ignoring the feed entirely or completely strip the feed away creating a lite version and just make it a webpage with those sharing and notification features. I would but I can’t even get my android developer to function on my computer after 3 frustrating days as I’m a microbiologist not a programmer. I did create an “app” for friendica specifically via kodular (a dumbed down app building site) called “Librefriends” which is on the android app store but other than including info on how to use friendica for beginners it doesn’t do more than the “pin to home” feature.
I would recommend at least temporarily signing up to friendica(social.isurf.ca) or pixelfed (pixelfed.social) for examples if you don’t know what I mean and how useful, easy and versatile the webpage versions of the platforms are now. They just are missing those last few features that andstatus does very well to make them competitive with facebook and IG. I have also included screen grabs from my phone as to how I use them, and how trying to use them on andstatus in its current form for these platforms is more of a pain.
All your webview option would need is back and forward buttons, refresh and zoom. I also made a youtube series on how to use friendica. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzgsBSEiEgLhNttVgB2f3i-LJW0cdTrTk
This will probably take a bit of time and effort on your part but it would put many of these good quality webpage platforms on the same quality playing field as the top players in the social media world. A lack of an easy to use effective app being one of their big barriers.
Thank you for your time and hard work

Hello @anubis2814
Thank you for suggestions and for the links to your Friendica guides. I started to watch them...

I'm trying to figure out, what you really want :-) and how AndStatus could be adapted for that.
First of all I think that "WebView" (in a sense of the Android component: https://developer.android.com/guide/webapps/webview) is not what will be enough for you, and the WebView is not even necessary. But maybe you think about another screen layout, different buttons/icons for navigation between posts ("notes", "toots")?!

Maybe you don't want to see a Timeline as a vertically scrollable list of notes (with images), but want to see only one note at a time (scrollable vertically, but one only), and navigate to the next/previous note in the timeline using "<--" and "-->" buttons at the top of the screen (or horizontal swipes...)?
