As of HA 110, custom-ui's technique to set icon_color is no longer valid. Since custom-ui has been a main part of my configuration for many years now, and remains my preferred way of customizing entities, this was a major disappointment. I really needed my icons to be colored, as color is very important aspect of the Human Computer Interface.

The alternative of having to style each and every entity, or maybe card, in Lovelace, using that other great extension, Card-mod, simply isn't as powerful. And, to be honest, much more complex. Added to that, it makes the Lovelace config much harder to read, and many many more lines of code necessary.

Custom-ui is set and forget. Globally.

After some iterations of the file we it work again (thanks to Bram and Thomas!)
But because this repo has been abandoned for over a year now, my Pull request will never be merged.

Because of that, I have made a small repo, in honor of this great plugin, which explains how we can use custom-ui again, and download the new file directly.

Also, some examples are given, so you can immediately use and enjoy globally customized entities in your Lovelace setups.

works as advertised, thanks for your time to this project. I agree without colors and some tweaking the man machine interface lacks a bit of pazaz.
Huge thank you @Mariusthvdb for your hard work.
