Fixing these entries in the LSJ short defs:

  • ἄν - we had "he came" because it was taking the wrong part of a definition, from an example rather than an explanation. It's changed now to "modal particle; implies fulfillment"
  • ἄρα we had "i[rtilde]" which was an incorrect extraction from the sense. It's now "there and then"
  • βοηθέω - it was missing because it has no field. It's now "come to aid, succour, assist, aid"
  • δόμος - it was using the latin sense rather than the 1st english sense. It's now "house"
  • ἕπομαι - it was missing in the short defs. full defs say ref ἕπω, so it's now "see ἕπω"
  • ἔπος - listed Sanskrit vacas because that was first. It's now "word"
  • ζάω - it was missing in the short defs. full defs say ref ζῶ so it's now "see ζῶ"
  • ἤ2 - it was "hi" extracted from a translation "hi Xanthias" in the 2nd sense. Now "an exclamation expressing disapproval"
  • καί - short defs was had only "and" and was missing the rest of the 1st sense. It's now "and; also Adv. even, just."
-καίτοι - this was lemma n5202 in lsj, which we had key καί4 as the lemma key but morpheus identifies this hdwd as καίτοι so I've changed the lemma key to καίτοι
  • μέσος - the first entry in lsj has just "b" which is nonsense. using the 2nd "middle, in the middle"
  • ναός - the first entry in lsj is nonsense " 2 Ma.)". Using the 2nd "temple"
  • οἶδα - it was missing in short defs. full defs say ref Εἴδω so it's now "see Εἴδω"
  • οὐκοῦν - it was in short defs file but there's no tr tag so it was empty. Using "therefore (particle)" from Logeion.
  • οὐσία - first entry in lsj had "sum" using the 2nd "that which is one's own, one's substance, property"
  • παρασκευάζω - our version of LSJ has 2 separate entries - one for this word and one for παρασκεπσκεάζω and the former doesn't have any element in the sense entry. Looking at Logeion and a copy of the LSJ on the Internet Archive, it seems maybe these should just be one entry with the lemma παρασκευάζω so I have merged them - they both point at entry n78758 now which has the "get ready, prepare" short def.
  • πάρειμι - first entry in lsj had "sum", using the 2nd "be by or be present"
  • πατήρ first entry in lsj was sanskrit using the 2nd "father"
  • πέρσης first entries in LSJ didn't have any elements. Using "a Persian; Perses (pr.n.)" from Logeion
  • πίπτω - first entry in LSJ was "Exc. ex libris Herodiani". using the 2nd "fall down, and (when intentional) cast oneself down"
  • συνίστημι first entry in LSJ was BJ Prooem, fixed to "set together combine"
  • ὀλόφυρσις first entry in LSJ was BJ Prooem fixed to "lamentations"
  • σωκράτης fixed to Socrates ("dear little Socrates!" is there in the LSJ but incorrectly tagged)
  • τολμάω first entry in LSL was Bodl. Quarerly Report. Fixed to 2nd "Undertake, take heart either to do or bear anything terrible or difficult"
  • τρεῖς lsj entry was there but is missing senses. They are in the following entry for τρία. I've fixed the short def for τρεῖς to three and pointing it at the entry for τρία for the full def
  • τρέπω first entry in lsj was Studien zum griech. Perf.. Fixed to 2nd "turn or direct towards a thing"
  • τύχη lsj markup only has tags around 'act', fixed for both full and short def to "the act of a god"
  • φέρω first entries aren't english. fixed short def to "bear or carry a load"
  • χείρ first entry is b. fixed short def to "hand"
  • χρή first entry is sum. Fixed short def to "it is necessary [impersonal]"

These will be addressed in the new majorplus short defs file:

θηναῖος Athenian
Ἀλέξανδρος Alexander
Ἀπόλλων Apollo
Θηβαῖος Theban
Καῖσαρ Caesar, the emperor
Καρχηδόνιος Carthaginian
Λακεδαιμόνιος Lacedaemonian

(Proper nouns)

θεός uppercasing "God"

This is what is in the LSJ so will respect that. Lowercase will be used in the majorplus short defs file.

μάλιστα

this is just missing from LSJ. In majorplus short defs as "very, very much"

μέντοι

this is missing as a distinct lemma in LSJ. It's referred to in the entry for μέν B. ΙΙ.4, but doesn't have its own entry. In majorplus short defs as "however, of course"

που

Is missing in LSJ with this accent. It's in the majorplus as "somewhere"

πρό First definition in LSJ is the one we use, "before, forth". In major it's "gen. before"

σώζω

Is missing in LSJ with this accent. It's in the majorplus as "save"

χρῆμα

Sticking with first def in LSJ for consistency. In major it's "thing, (pl.) money"

Morpheus errors

καταλείπω NDF leave behind wrongly goes to καταλιμπάνω; ML is wrong in a different way, and still gives no definition.

Morpheus parses this as καταλιμπάνω . Will enter a bug to be addressed with morph fixes. alpheios-project/morpheus#21

πλέως
Does not link to πλέω in LSJ; the 4th link is to a very obscure Attic form and the fifth link [πρέω] is not a word. Both should be deleted, as should the first link (πλέος), as it is a form of the 2nd link (πλέως)

Entered as alpheios-project/morpheus#22

ποτε
Is listed under πότε, but has a distinct indefinite meaning without the accent.

Entered as alpheios-project/morpheus#23

πρῶτος Superlative adjective: foremost. See under πρότερος. A problem. It is a superlative adjective that has no positive. So it is linked to the comparative form instead and given its morphology and definition. In my trees I made up the lemma πρῶτος.

Entered as alpheios-project/morpheus#24

Ῥωμαῖος wrong link to Ῥωμαικός Roman

Entered as alpheios-project/morpheus#25

συνίστημι incorrect parse of συνιστάω

Entered as alpheios-project/morpheus#26

Not addressed:

εἰκός Meaning #2 εἰκός: verb separate entry in LSJ for this word, as the substantive neuter participle of ἔοικα.

Not sure what to do with this. We currently have "like truth" (in the Major Plus it's "proper, probable")

ἵνα conjunction has no definition that, in order that

We do show "in that place, there" as the definition for the lemma (and don't normally show different definitions per inflection, so the conjunction inflection doesn't have a separate definition listed for it.

τίς Interrog. Pronoun: who? what? Listed under the lemma for τις. **"τίς irregular" should be removed entirely from the morphological analyzer.

Not sure what to do with this one. Morpheus parses as both τις any one, any thing and τίς: who? which? the latter says "irregular" but I think it's the right parse?

One correction:
ἄν implies condition, not fulfilment

Thank you!
