Spritesheet animations don't seem to work in FireFox

My custom animation runs in all other browsers but doesn't work in firefox. This is also present with the demo animal morph animation. It seems to be related to some weird behavior with background-size. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or if there is a known workaround.
