It would be fantastic if Blather could support either enabling compression as part of negotiating TLS or enabling compression via XEP-0138: http://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0138.html

We're building services on Blather that ship big stanzas to and from a large number of clients and we're not particularly CPU bound (at least not yet), so compression would be rather nice to have.

I'd be happy to look in to implementing this if it's not a top priority for the project--although I'd be welcome to any suggestions on which method is preferred before I start.

I'd certainly appreciate a contribution here. I think XEP-0138 would be the way forward.
