In the section "Setting up Frontend-Editing with YAG" (https://docs.typo3.org/typo3cms/extensions/yag/Yag-YetAnotherGallery/UsersManual/SettingUpFrontend-editingWithYag/Index.html) it needs to be stated, that you have to enable Typoscript-Service first, for FE-editing to work:

Please add this line:
config.tx_extbase.objects.Tx_PtExtbase_Rbac_RbacServiceInterface.className = Tx_PtExtbase_Rbac_TypoScriptRbacService
