Is this still an issue with the latest version?

I have not been able to reproduce this myself. I suspect this issue and others related to install/uninstall are likely due to VS setup and not the extension itself, but hard to verify/debug without logs or consistent repo.

Have you tried uninstalling it via Visual Studio Installer? Launch it, choose the VS version and click Change. On the right you should see XAML Styler as a installed extension.

A possible reason for the above (not verified) is that it was installed machine-wide (as admin), and VS is running under an account that doesn't have permission to remove it.
