Description

On mobile, the Page List gets stuck in the "select page" step.

Kapture.2024-05-10.at.07.25.27.mp4

I expected this section to disappear as soon as I select one of the pages but it does not.

The desktop version relies on the user clicking on the page's content to edit but this is simple not possible mobile because the page preview is not available.

Step-by-step reproduction instructions

  1. Using a narrow viewport, got to Appearance > Editor > Pages
  2. Select a page
  3. Notice how the page itself is not opened in the editor.

I have just bumped the priority on this one, I think it is a bit of a blocker.

@priethor, @annezazu, what's the fastest way to get some eyes on this?

Thank you!

This issue seems similar to the issue reported in #58044.

I think the cause is that the default layout of the page is "List". Change to a different layout and you should be able to access the editor.

For the mobile layout, we may need to disable the list layout and make a different layout the default.

Another serious problem is that you cannot return to the "Design" page. Click the logo in the top left to return to the dashboard.

This issue will be fixed when #60805 lands: it adds an edit button affordance that enables users to go to the editor.

Thank you @oandregal. I have subscribed myself to that issue, I will close this one when the PR is merged.
