I could not drag the items in activity bar (icons on the left). On my system (arch + gnome) I got 2 shortcuts for codium ("VSCodium" and "VSCodium - Wayland") and the issue existed only in the one with Wayland suffix. After dragging it in the "non wayland version" and reloading a few times it works in both now.

Also having drag and drop view behaviour issues in wayland version, seems like the workaround is to open up the non-wayland version. Set it up how desired and then switch back to the wayland version.

I can confirm this, too:

Version: 1.89.0
Release: 24127
Commit: 4379b66f0d4dd9881ba96fa086f387725b69a24b
Date: 2024-05-06T17:54:09.063Z
Electron: 28.2.8
ElectronBuildId: undefined
Chromium: 120.0.6099.291
Node.js: 18.18.2
V8: 12.0.267.19-electron.0
OS: Linux x64 6.6.21-gentoo

That's on KDE 5.27.11, on Wayland.

Additionally, it appears that a whole host of drag-and-drop operations are non functional:

  1. Rearranging activity bar icons does not work at all.
  2. Dragging files into the editor will open them and it is possible to even open up various panels but holding shift (which usually causes a link to be entered into the editor, for example) is not obeyed. (The file is opened, normally, instead of a relative path being typed.)
