Question

I've been growing oaks and cutting them and have not gotten any apples. Similarly, I've chopped down a couple of coconut trees and got no coconuts. Is there some special way of getting tree fruit?

Let me be clear: the oak trees I'm chopping down were grown from saplings. They have green oak leaves. I tried chopping them down while my generator was running and the temperature was positive, but no apples.

I also have no idea where to get the various nuts from. Black Walnut is featured in a quest but there's no mention of what tree drops it. Black birch would be my guess, but maybe it's dark oak? Or regular birch?

Okay, I managed to spot the problem by chance. Leaves that drop fruit now have a "growth" progress on them like crops do. I have no idea what the temperature requirement is for them but there's a serious problem with this system-- COCONUT TREES. They can grow incredibly tall, far above your generator, which means the leaves get no heat.
