Just like in previous years we will also provide scholarships again for Barcelona to give an opportunity for joining us to people who would otherwise wouldn't be able to attend, and in an effort to make RustFest (more) inclusive and accessible, similarly to how the Rust project strives to be.

Just like for Rome, we want to keep the discussion around evolving our stance on Scholarships a public and accessible process again, which means we have opened this tracking issue here for anyone to contribute and steer the discussion with their experience and expertise.

One of the main changes that I would like to kick off this year's Scholarships discussion is that this year I want to unify all our scholarship offerings into a single funnel, simply named Scholarships. This is not to say we don't see the value anymore in Disability Scholarships separate from Diversity/Opportunity/Etc. Scholarships, but more out of self-reflection realizing that our efforts (as a small, community-organized event with limited budget and person-hours to be dedicated to the organization) are better spent with minimal process overhead. RustFest has always aspired to be accessible to everyone and this haven't changed. If anything, we are even more bullish on making RustFest inclusive, accessible and enjoyable for everyone who intends to join us this fall.

We will sharing more information about this year's process below, as well as we are announcing more detailed information about the Barcelona event. This will be followed closely by the opening of our Call for Proposals and Scholarship applications, and in the meantime we welcome any comments on improving our process and offerings in comment section below.
