The current stable release is 1.4.2 from 2020 and there are several release candidate releases/tags since then.

Will there be a 1.5.0 release? If so, when may it be expected?

Users can use run AppImages of the beta versions, yet many GNU/Linux distros only ship the stable version 1.4.2. A new release after ~three years would make some new features and improvements available to the users, e.g. firmware update. I understand that there is active work put into the new nitrokey-app2 GUI, but until it is mature enough and becomes widely adopted, maybe it makes sense to have another release of nitrokey-app.

Hi! There are no plans for Nitrokey App v1.5 release currently, due to lack of time. While the last beta release seems quite usable for me, there were a few places which could use some polish, and due to that we have not decided to release it as stable yet. It could probably be pushed out if we would find eager people to test it.
Can you share your experience with 1.5 beta? Does it work for you?

I forgot to mention, that currently the development switched to https://github.com/Nitrokey/pynitrokey, which will be the base library for the Nitrokey App 2.

I had no issues so far with 1.5 beta (Nitrokey Pro2, Nitrokey 3).
