db schema column_default = "NULL" changed from v2.4.167 to 2.4.173

The column_default changed from null to “NULL” in several of the column names in the db_schema recently This particular one is causing an error on inserting new or updated Event data. Rather than the default of null, the schema is setting this as a value of "NULL". In my case, this causes the attributes not to index into the Event.
