As described SPEdit decides to crash on you if you decide to rename a already open file, as I'm renaming files constantly while developing (most of the time while having the "Open" dialog open and renaming in the file explorer) it would be a nice addition / a lil bugfix if this could get ironed out and either ask you to keep the file open in memory or to automatically close it.

Same happens if you switch the branch you are currently on and files were renamed.

I couldn't get it crash with an sp file but with a inc file.

Open Spedit
Open an .inc file / or any other?
Go to "open files" or CTRL + O
Rename File in Open Files explorer (then abort)
Go back to the editor
Editor crashes / just exits.
