I have been wondering about this for a while.
Say you have a known interlaced source (60i for example).
You can choose to use Interlace detection + decomb (I use bob to convert it to 60fps), or turn off Interlace detection and just use decomb.
The results would be (in log):
With detection:
Without:
Obviously if you do it with detection, it would only deinterlace frames that are heavy, blend light, and do nothing with "uncombed" frames/fields. However, I wonder how significant their difference is.
I tried to compare them frame by frame, but it's hard to find any difference.
