With the phone setting for portrait mode unlocked, rotate the phone 90 degrees in either direction. This causes the Current Location and Basemap Selector buttons to disappear from view.

This was an SDK bug and it should be resolved.

Per Mara, sounds like this is actually not yet fixed in the SDK.

This seems to be a xamarin bug. I'll have to look into this a bit more. For now, the iOS app is locked to Portrait mode only.
