If DYALOGLINK is set to a non-existent file, the error message concludes with "Hit Enter" but hitting Enter has no effect

Cannot read DYALOGLINK ("dasfsfdsf"). Press Enter.

But nothing happens when you hit Enter .. I suspect that some timeout kicks in eventually.
