Dear all,
I was using Distance without any trouble and since this morning this message appears anytime I try to create a new project. The consequence is the unit tab for the Transect is blank and I can't add any during the analysis, the analysis then just can't run. I haven't done anything unusual also the last project I created was a point transect.
I tried to reinstall the software, but no change.
I would be very glad to have some help.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for reporting this problem I will look into it. I may need more details of the last project you created before this error message occured. When you re-installed did you install Distance 6 again? If so you could try installing Distance version 7.

Good afternoon,
Yes I first re-installed distance 6, then 7. And now it is fine, but I still have the same problem with the 6. I will have a look to see if I still have the last project I created with 6 but I'm nt sure I do. I believe it was an example.
Thanks
Julie

Hi Julie,

No worries I can get at the information another way. I think what has happened is there is some error being produced due to the setup of the last project (this sounds very much like a bug in Distance). Distance stores your last selected options and uses them again the next time. But Distance 6 and Distance 7 will be looking at different files for those options hence why I hoped installing Distance 7 would fix it. It would be great if you could try attaching that file for me here however so I can resolve the bug that you found.

You will find a database file called distini in the following rough location:

C:/.../AppData/Local/Distance/Distance 62

Probably just easier to search your computer for a file called distini you will have at least 2 one will be in a Distance 6 folder and one in the Distance 7 one. Given it is version 6 that is not working I would need the one in that folder. Btw. once you have located this file and passed it on to me you could move it out of this folder and when you next open Distance 6 it will be replaced by the default one and this should fix Distance 6 for you.

Let me know if you have trouble attaching it here and please keep a copy until I can recreate the issue on my machine,

Thanks, Laura
