OS

MX Linux 23.2 (sysvinit) "Linux 6.1.0-18-rt-amd64 x86_64"

DAW / Host (if applicable)

Native, Jack, MusE, LMMS, Qtractor

Description

Steps:
1- Use Pulse audio / Alsa / Jack as default option in your OS, Connect midi keyboard (cme xkey 37)
2- Open Native Cardinal (Applies on Jack Cardinal & Cardinal Lv2 Plugin)
3- Load DRMR - Etherpad preset from examples projects
4- Set buffer size to (128 / 256 / 512) from Engine section
5- Enable MIDI from Engine section
6- Enable Audio input
7- Play some notes
8- Remove HOST MIDI module then reinsert & connect it
9- Play some notes

Expected result:

  • Smooth sound production
  • Low CPU / DSP load on first attempt

Actual result:

  • Continuous XRUNS, until HOST MIDI module is removed then inserted back & connected
  • Moderately high CPU / DSP usage

Can you try the latest nightly build to confirm this behavior?

I'm unable to reproduce as on my computer CardinalNative doesn't show any such Engine settings ..

@dromer same behavior, even in 24.04 :( , Have to remove Host midi and re add it to get rid of xruns
