So far I have used the SPSS .sav format in my R analyses. Here I noticed that the STATA .dta format is used. Can these be used interchangeably?
I am asking because I am running into an issue where using the dta and sav files produce different outcome. Only with the dta files I can reproduce the official reports. However it looks like there is an issue in the dta file.
Specifically I looking at Gambia 2013, the HV140 variable. In the dta file there is an additional "9" value, which affects the final calculation (making the "no" share larger). See picture:
Does this mean that the dta data file is incorrect?
