Could there be a function for Askers to post what they want and Offerors could provide a quotation for them?

First, let me say thank you for having an open-source version. This is helping our startup get to market faster. I understand that you want to save the higher functionality for your paid enterprise version. However, the community version is a bit of a mess. First, the demos are misleading as it seems that those are for the CE version when they are for the paid version. Second many basic things don't work. For example, you have a contact page and an admin section to manage that, but you did not include a delete option on the message. In fact, you have left the delete out of every list function in the admin. This would be a huge improvement to have delete. Also, things like the configuration in the admin does not do anything. Basics like site name, colors etc would be great.

Actually I wonder if there are any plans to bring back to life the CE? The demo's are promising but if it's not working I'm afraid it's risky even to give it a go as a start (I was thinking about using this to create an MVP to try and see how it goes and upgrade later; before investing a few thousand euro's in a great platform with no users yet. I have to say, it looks very nice and I'd love to try it out on a nice market but at least basic functionality and payments must work and be secure..) Is anyone actualy using the CE version in a production environment?

barbatrucNL, we are using it on our MVP. It was a little bit of work getting it set up not using the docker version but we got it working. We did have to write our own Stripe integration to have a usable payment system. It is unfortunate that the demo is of the EE not CE versions seems a bit misleading. For us, it was a cheaper option to write the missing code then pay the $70k a year for the EE version. The admin is quite lacking too but again we will write that in as we need to.

I guess you mean 7k.. If you mean Hatch..

@rubberduckyint

not following what you mean Hatch? We were quoted around $70k a year for the EE of Cocorico marketplace platform with full features.

oh, I see they rebranded and changed their pricing. When we started they were Cocorico and pricing was around 70k a year. Not surprised by the price restructuring it was way overpriced. The other issue with Hatch that we had was that the EE version is a saas platform so you do not have access to the code to do any custom work and are their mercy. We prefer to have full control.

As Cocorico seemed to have stopped the opensource development, I'm looking into Shareatribe Flex as an alternative (opensource front end, api based SaaS). An api based architecture that decouples the front end from the back end is attractive for more reasons. Unfortunately Flex itself is not opensource.

we looked at sharetribe when we were trying to find a platform for this project. I did not like that its proprietary and you are stuck on someone else echosystem. Flex is only free to build but once you start using it you have to pay. We just branched cocorico and now have our own platform not beholden to any one else.

Do you opensource your branch/fork too? I didn't see it here but it could be interesting and more current than the original main branch. At least to play around with and check basic ideas/skne kind of accessible 'proof of concept'

We have not at this time. Did not realize they stopped development on the open-source version. It may be something we consider. Our version is not stable yet anyway but may put it out there shortly now that we know. We wrote stripe integration and some other changes to ours but do not have them as a package, unfortunately.

We have not yet. Currently, the version we have is customized to our needs. We may put it out at some point when we get it more stable.
