Reverse and modding beginner with fair programming experience

Hello everyone,

I would like your help to give me directions concerning game reversing and moding.
I am a PhD student in cybersecurity, big gamer, so let's say I have the profile of someone already coding for some years know, confident enough in low level languages such as C, already done some reverse engineering, and know unders of Linux system.

I've been looking lately to game reversing, which seems like a good cross-path of my capabilities, and I wondered if you could point to some goods papers to get started about it. When it is simple dll reverse / code change / recompile it's fine, but when it coming to obfuscated data, bundled assets and other (common I guess) stuff like this, I don't really know where to look at, which ressources to learn from.

What would be in your informed opinion some good path to follow to upskill properly and start to be able to do interesting stuff ?
