I understand there are two ways of specifying a map CreateMap and CreateProjection and that they result in different outcomes (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/72920666/defining-both-createprojection-and-createmap). I also understand that using CreateProjection disables CreateMap.
The issue here is that I need a local mapping operation to behave differently to a projection. The reason is that my EF=>SQL mapping relies on server functions e.g EF.Functions.GetDiffDays and the local .Map obviously cannot use that. Similarly the functions I am running simply cannot be replicated in Linq and get translated to SQL (There is a longer story here, but trust me and take this as given).
My desired outcome is to specify a mapping for ProjectTo that will work with functions, and a mapping for .Map that can use local linq.
