Is Java21 required for version 8.2?

I run it with java17, and get the following error message:

java: cannot access org.activiti.bpmn.model.UserTask
  bad class file: ~/.m2/repository/org/activiti/activiti-bpmn-model/8.2.0/activiti-bpmn-model-8.2.0.jar!/org/activiti/bpmn/model/UserTask.class
    class file has wrong version 65.0, should be 61.0
    Please remove or make sure it appears in the correct subdirectory of the classpath.
