Hi,

I am from India. I am not able to open https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ebookapp/ebookapp.github.io/main/photo-recovery.json or https://raw.githubusercontent.com from jio mobile internet.
I can access this(https://raw.githubusercontent.com/) website from other networks or internet like Vodafone, Idea, Airtel, GTPL and all other internet services providers internet but can't access from jio mobile internet.

When I try to open https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ from India from my browser like crome, edge from jio mobile internet I got error This website can't be reached.

This issue happened from last 20 days.

Before 20 days all is working good https://raw.githubusercontent.com/* is opening properly.

Please resolve this issue as soon possible.

I'm not sure about that. But, I'm using jio and it has some problem with GitHub and Stack Overflow whenever I open that site, I'm facing network delay and some wired things.

I have the same issue. I am using Hathway, and its JIO subsidery so they have blocked it too. Looks like its a TROI rule to block it .Now i am looning for a workaround . Any help please

Not only that. if any other application using github's URL that app will stop working. I am unable to see the plugin docs of Logseq, VsCode and some other application.

If anyone using any icon that are using github link those icons will not work. For example, I was using bunch of icons on my Github readme files. those icons were unable to load alternatively I'm using Imgur

You can switch to Dropbox -

Steps -

1. Upload file ( eg. JSON)
2. Make sure it is visible for all who has link
3. copy the file link.
4. Open that and copy the link from browser search panel ( *After opening the copied link from dropbox )
5. Edit the link. replace ?dl=0 or ?dl=1 at the end of the link with ?raw=1.
6. Open the edited link.
7. Now copy the new raw link that has been created after opening the edited link.
8. Now you have a proper raw link of file, that can be used anywhere.

That's one hell of a bad solution.

Try to set your dns to 8.8.4.4 and/or 8.8.8.8.
8.8.4.4 and 8.8.8.8 are managed by Google, and they are useful to bypass broken DNS from bad ISPs. There are other options if you don’t want to use the Google ones

I changed DNS to 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 IPv4 and 2001:4860:4860::8888, 2001:4860:4860::8844 IPv6 and then it should work, it worked for me

It seems that ACT had blocked the site because they assumed it to be a porn site. The domain is now whitelisted and accessible.
I guess "raw" was the culprit. 😄

Just contacted JioFiber support and they said, they created a ticket and will get back to me regarding this. I am using CloudFlare WARP to get around all this.

Here is some workaround process to bypass your issue:
if you are in Linux environment then open your terminal window and copy/paste the below command:

NOTE : you must need to be sudo user

$ sudo echo "185.199.108.133 raw.githubusercontent.com" > /etc/hosts

and for mobile users (who are using termux) if you are not rooted then above command will not work for you.
You can resolve the issue by using hosts go/ cloudflare warp. You can download one from Google Play store.

Hey guys, so JioFiber has unblocked this. I can now use it without warp 1.1.1.1. I reported it, again and again, a month ago. They have apparently fixed this.
Sometimes it works in one click. Sometimes I have to refresh the page once or twice.

I have Mailed hathway which is Jio Subsidery and they have said that its becuase of TROI they have blocked it and dont have a clue as to why it was blocked . Not sure if there is a threat using this site :)

Jio Support just told me (on 10th Nov 2023) that "This website is blocked as per DOT guidelines."

As Pranesh Prakash says here, Madras High Court had ordered to unblock this domain in January 2023 after the case was withdrawn. I found this media report about this order.

Perhaps this could be fresh DOT guidelines.

After spending a whole year trying to make Jio fix this, it turns out they do not care. Here are all the solutions that you guys can use. Feel free to compare or use a forum to judge like Reddit.

I am now using multiple solutions together. But you can choose to use just one.

DNS

You can use a third-party DNS to resolve your lookups. This is the one causing this issue. GitHub told me that Jio has unhealthy DNS hence we can't browse the raw domains.

Here are the different and most famous DNS services that you can use for free:

• Cloudflare: https://developers.cloudflare.com/1.1.1.1/
• Google: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns
• AdGuard (comes with built-in AdBlocking and Tracking Protection): https://adguard-dns.io/en/public-dns.html
• AdGuard Paid DNS: https://adguard-dns.io/en/welcome.html
• NextDNS: https://nextdns.io/

All instructions are on their pages. You can apply these settings on three levels:

1. OS Level (Android, Windows, etc)
2. Router Level (like your Wi-Fi router's Admin Panel)
3. Browser Level (Chrome Security Settings and similar on other browsers)

VPN

This one is pretty obvious as you can always use a VPN service to browse. But I do not recommend this because it is mostly very slow even on paid VPNs and then there is the latency issue.

My Setup

I am currently using AdGuard's Android App and the Browser Extension. I will soon switch to their Windows Native App. I am also using AdGuard's Public DNS in both the OS settings (Android, Windows) and in Browser settings (Chrome https://dns.adguard-dns.com/dns-query).

The AdGuard App to block Ads, Trackers, etc. And DNS on two levels to ensure no request fails. I am not using the Router level because it might reset or create another issue that I do not have time to care about.

Feel free to mark this as a solution @andev3-printftech because there is no way we can make these network companies listen to us. :)

One way to get pass through is to do the following in your Jiofiber router

• Open the router settings (probably at 192.168.29.1)
• The username must be admin and password must be Jiocentrum
• Open Security > Content filtering
• Turn on content filtering
• Open approved urls and add a new rule
• URL: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/; Schedule: No schedule
• Click on save and it'll be done. If the URL still doesn't work power off and on the router
