I’m currently working on my Master’s thesis, where we want to analyze GitHub repositories regarding their compliance with privacy regulations such as the European GDPR or California’s CCPA. We want to download all GitHub repositories and look at commits, issues, pull requests, and code comments. We noticed that the GitHub API requests per hour do not meet our demands, as we would vastly exceed the request limits.
What options could you recommend for analyzing large portions (or best, all) of GitHub’s repositories? Are there some possibilities to greatly increase our API rate limits, or are there some images where we could download large parts of GitHub’s (meta-)data?
