It looks like Upscayl is encountering an issue during the upscaling process, resulting in an empty output folder and sometimes causing the software to turn black. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Ensure Vulkan Support

Verify that your AMD Radeon RX 570 GPU supports Vulkan. You can use the VulkanCapsViewer to check for Vulkan support. If your GPU does not support Vulkan, Upscayl will not be able to upscale images.

2. Set GPU ID

Manually set the GPU ID to ensure that Upscayl is using the correct GPU for processing:

  1. Open Upscayl and attempt to upscale any image.
  2. Navigate to the Settings tab.
  3. Scroll down to the logs area to see the available GPU IDs.
  4. Enter the desired GPU ID(s) in the 'GPU ID' input box.
  5. On Windows, ensure Upscayl is set to performance mode under advanced display settings.

3. Reinstall Graphics Drivers

Reinstall your graphics drivers to ensure they are up to date and properly configured.

4. Enable Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling

Follow the guide to enable hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling if your system supports it.

5. Disable Switchable Graphics

If your system has switchable graphics, disable switchable graphics to ensure that the discrete GPU is being used.

6. Check for Specific Errors

Upscayl has built-in error handling that can provide more specific information about what might be going wrong. Follow the troubleshooting steps provided in any error messages you encounter.

7. Check Logs and Post Issues

If you encounter an "uncaughtException" or other errors, check the logs for more information. You can also post an issue on Upscayl's GitHub repository for further assistance.

8. Clear Cache and Temporary Files

Clear Upscayl-related cache files on Windows:

  1. Open File Explorer and navigate to:
    • C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Upscayl
    • C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\Upscayl
  2. Delete any files or folders related to Upscayl in these directories.

9. Try a Different Model

Try using a different model to see if the problem is specific to the "remacri" model. For example, switch to the "realesrgan-x4fast" model and check if the upscaling process works.

10. Check for Software Updates

Ensure that you are using the latest version of Upscayl. Sometimes, updates include bug fixes and improvements that can resolve existing issues.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please provide any additional error messages or logs that you encounter during the process. This information can help in diagnosing the problem further.
