How can I show a repr only for fields that are set?

I have a class with a lot of options:

from pydantic.dataclasses import dataclass

@dataclass
class Settings:
  a: Optional[int] = None
  b: Optional[str] = None
  ...
  z: Optional[float] = None

If a user wants certain settings, they'll instantiate with just the options they want:

settings = Settings(a=123, z=4.56)

I'd love for it to render exactly like that, but instead it will render more like:

repr(settings)

Settings(a=123, b=None, c=None, ..., y=None, z=4.56

How can I make the repr show only for values that are "set", like this?

repr(settings)

Settings(a=123, z=4.56)

By overriding the repr method , you can do that like here

class Settings:
    a: Optional[int] = None
    b: Optional[str] = None
    z: Optional[float] = None

    def __repr__(self):
        field_values = {k: v for k, v in self.__dict__.items() if v is not None}
        field_str = ', '.join(f'{k}={repr(v)}' for k, v in field_values.items())
        return f'{self.__class__.__name__}({field_str})'

settings = Settings(a=123, z=4.56)
