Animations #3
Comments
A new game has been designed that explores this from an FRP perspective. Possibly for a future Magic Cookies! 2 :) |
Also reported by (Dmitry Suzdalev @dimsuz). |
The issue is that if you add animations to your model, you pollute a nice discrete board with visualization information. A different FRP variant, Dunai, might be better suited for this. Yampa can be built on top of that. The paper Back to the Future: Time Travel in FRP presents how to do this, and I have an example of a game that does it. |
Very interesting! I've always been obsessed with UIs and now very interested in FRP, but have little experience, so this kind of articles help me learn :) |
I felt that the paper was a bit difficult to understand and to generalise. If you have any input, please let me know. It'll help a lot to make the point clearer. I really want to solve this problem. |
This is just a follow-up to this open issue. A new version of Magic Cookies is in the works and it includes some animations! This is independent from MC2, which also includes animations. |
The version has been pushed out for Android as 1.47.0. It's going through Google's verification process now, which can take about one week. It includes just one basic animation for now, but the engine is flexible and we can animate other elements too. Not all kinds of animations would improve the game. It would be helpful to hear from users as to which elements to best animate in this game. |
Version 1.47.0 is now live on Google Play for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.keera.games.magiccookies |
The visual quality of the game would improve if we had animations. We should definitely look into it.
