We have a few names and terminologies floating around:

Index:
Currently used: PoW Mining Index, BTC Mining Index (BMI), ETH Mining Index (EMI)
Pros: intuitive, easy to remember
Cons: not accurate enough, and BMI confuses with Body Mass Index. Not as straight forward as BTC Hashrate Futures, etc.

Contract:
Currently used: Synthetic PoW Mining Index, Synthetic BTC Mining Contract, Synthetic ETH Mining Contract
Pros: intuitive, easy to remember
Cons: easily confused with cloud mining contracts, not as straight forward as "BTC Hashrate Futures" or "BTC Hashrate Contract" or "Difficulty Futures"

Maybe "Hashrate Future" is a good simple choice for the contract.
Consequently, use "Hashrate Future Index" for the index?

Bitcoin Hashrate Future Index (BHFI)?

As memtioned in issue #44, this contract is a typical index futures contract. So I proposal some names:

  • Index:
    • Bitcoin mining earnings index (short for BME)
  • Contract:
    • BME Futures, eg. BME84 Futures
    • Synthetic BTC Mining Futures
