Summary

Some users find the main question too open-ended and want more structure and guidance. One option would be to have a toggle which allows users to see different types of input and fill those in instead of only having an open question and a free text box. This has been brought up by multiple community members at different stages of development, so seems worth addressing, but is also quite a profound change with lots of different implications.

Deadline

What needs to be done?

  • Think of different ways the question could be broken down (e.g. time of day etc.)
  • Create a form with these additional settings
  • Allow users to access that form with a toggle on the add story page
  • Add information clarifying what the different options are and saying you can use whichever format you prefer
  • Make sure users can toggle between options without losing input?
  • Test with users!

Quick fix for MVP improvement we discussed as first step to address this: Expand placeholder texts in submission forms to include things that people could give (time of day, location, …)
